Team Impact announcement on Tuesday

Chris “Parasite” Duarte, captain of the Call of Duty Championship winning Team Impact, announced via twitter last night that there will be an announcement coming from his team on Tuesday. It is speculated that Impact will debut a new team logo designed by Trinity Studios, a popular graphic design and branding company.

Late Sunday night after tweeting there will be an announcement about Team Impact on Tuesday, Parasite tweeted out a picture of a computer monitor with what seemed to be a new gaming oriented logo on it, that tweet and others to Nick Scuilla, Founder and owner of Trinity Studios were deleted shortly afterwards.

There is also speculation about a possible sponsorship announcement accompanying the new logo. UMG St. Louis, the first LAN that took place after the Call of Duty Championships, was the last time Impact was associated with a gaming organization. Previously, Impact had been a fully sponsored team under Fariko, a Dutch based gaming community. Although there isn’t much transparency on the specifics of contracts between organizations and professional gaming teams or players, Impact allegedly left Fariko because of the large percentage of the grand prize winnings Fariko is thought to have been owed as part of their sponsorship agreement at the time.

Since leaving Fariko, Parasite has been adamant that Impact will not be joining an organization, but will be looking to build and develop Impact as a brand.  He’s confirmed that Impact had been working with gaming branding experts Evil Geniuses who are known for their work in the eSports scene for games like League of Legends and the Starcraft series, but a deal that would have seen Evil Geniuses create a logo, website, and negotiate sponsorships for Impact eventually fell through.

Team Impact seems to have everything going for them right now. They are reigning champions of Call of Duty, domination all competition this season. They have one of the largest and fastest growing social media presence, but they lack the proper branding and marketing. So far we know that a new logo will be coming out, but the closer we get to MLG Anaheim, the next major LAN tournament, the sooner an announcement has to come from Impact and their leader Parasite about who will be sponsoring them. I reached out to Parasite about the possibility of a return to Fariko for MLG Anaheim, he responded with “not happening.”

I guess we’ll find out (or maybe not yet) on Tuesday.

Turtle Beach will also be featuring Twitch.tv streams on their website, with MLG Events, Call of Duty Championships, and DreamHack confirmed live streams being confirmed.
